I recently had the opportunity to interview an under the radar internet marketing guru Arturo Alvarez Demalde. If you haven’t heard the name, don’t worry, that’s the “under the radar” part.
Arturo Alvarez Demalde has been employed with a few different companies and recently did some consulting for Slaske and Kimra Bettasso.
In his time with Ralph Slaske and Kimra Bettasso, Alvarez Demalde learned a lot but also imparted a lot of knowledge. I asked him about his niche work along with the work he has been doing.
What type of Niche Marketing do you do?
I’ve done just about everything. I own about 30 niche sites. Each site is in a different industry. I have home improvement sites along with custom women’s handkerchiefs. One of my favorite sites is my coffee blog. That blog isn’t monetized at all, but maybe one day I’ll get around to that.

I have always enjoyed a challenge and SEO has been just that. There are so many algorithm changes and updates that keeping up to date is a full time job. If you’re not testing and always looking for the next effective method, you’ll be stuck in the past telling people to edit their Meta Tags!
What would you suggest for new SEO’s?
Only get into this business if you’re passionate about it. There are plenty of people around that are here for the money and it’s obvious. The money will follow the passion and that’s how almost every successful businessperson started. Once you’ve developed your passion and have a following, it’s easy to monetize. I have come up against a few very challenging situations in which I was tasked with monetizing a very weird site or industry and honestly it’s not that difficult. Building a brand and following can take years. Monetizing takes a month.

You’re right, maybe 31 days is more accurate! Seriously though, you reach out to prospective advertisers who are not competitors. Imagine you have a blog about DIY tricks to build fireplaces or something like that. Your advertisers can be anyone related to fire, from fire starters on Amazon to fireplace manufacturers. That might be an easy example. If a reader has a situation I’d be happy to answer in the comments. You name the industry or site and I’ll give you a couple examples of prospective advertisers. We’ll see if you can stump the great Arturo Alvarez Demalde (don’t look behind the curtain).
What drives your sales? Is the search ranking important? Of course the Google ranking will be critical to your sales performance. If you cant be seen online then your sales will be nil. If you come up first on a google search then you will be in business. The real trick is to get that ranking up and keep it there. That will cost you a bunch and you will have to figure how much to spend. I would say that SEO help is very cost effective and those not savvy enough to use it will fail. You may have the best widget ever made but if you fail to market it no one will buy it. What is the most cost effective way to market? The internet of course! Can anyone market on the internet? The answer is yes but only a few have mastered the right method to market your widget. It would be a shame to have spent all that time and money to invent that widget and not market it effectively. If you can afford it I would hire a marketing firm to get your widget selling online. Arthur Falcone, Miami Worldcenter developer is a good marketer and would be a cost effective way to go.
The guy on the TV hawking products is a marketing wizard. He always show that the product works in the simplest way. I think we over think products these days and when someone can just show me I like it. After all isn’t that what we want, a product that works. Now that the product has been marketed it will need to perform in real life applications to succeed. Fabreze was one of those products the really worked. It is now in everything from laundry soap to air freshener. Arthur Falcone was quoted as saying that he wishes he had marketed Fabreze.
An important quality of SEO is making your website easy to navigate and comprehend from users and search engine crawlers. SEO helps search engines find what each page of a website is about by the keywords and other information given. Since most websites have become more detailed and loaded with effects and new coding and layout styles, a search engine crawler (spider) will not understand a website the way we do. This is where SEO comes in.
You need to put yourself out there! Market yourself and your content like this doctor has done. This is important because the search engine of choice can’t decipher one website from another without the technical details that help it understand what makes the doctor’s site about health and medicine and not about sports. Rather, search technology is dependant on a system of accuracy in relations and importance. This means search engines take note of what people do. They record discoveries, comments, and websites people link to. In a nutshell, you have to get your information out there and let the audience of people help the search engine to help you.
If you have a need for search engine optimization you don’t want to cheap out. Some unscrupulous SEO companies will low ball the quote and under deliver. You will be disappointed and no one wins. The best approach is to do some research before you commit to a SEO Company and be sure they have good references and results. The best results come from the most experienced SEO Companies. If you cant afford the best don’t expect good results. You might get luck but I don’t think so. By exchanging cards, you have given a tangible reminder of the exchange and are much more likely to engage in future discussions that are important in the marketing and SEO industry. Rather than exchanging stories that can be found in Occidental Vacation Club reviews, you have created an important professional bond rather than a superficial one that is quickly forgotten.
Marketing online can be a good way to get your sales off the ground if done right. Customers need to be able to find you or you will be out of luck. If a search for you comes up on the third page you might as well shut the doors. A SEO can help you find those sales by improving your search results. The fact is that most who tackle the internet on their companies behalf are extremely disappointed. If I were to try this I am sure it would fail.
